Are worth it, sometimes. I went to the beach with Shannon today. I read the first coupla pages of the UMC Constitution (I know, I have strange beach reading choices), and flew my kite. It was fun. I neglected to use sunscreen, so I have a decent burn, but I'll be all right.
Tonight we went to see Goonies! There were probably at least two hundred people there in the park, but it was such a nice night, and the crowd was really cool. Jax Parks was showing the movie using a DVD player, and the DVD would skip every so often. Every time, the whole audience would collectively sigh, "Awww..." Then the movie would unskip and continue playing. It was funny. And when Sloth came in and hollered, "Hey you gu-uys!" the whole crowd started clapping. It was great. I love responsive movie audiences. Not talkers, you understand, just people who will react to the film.
A couple of nights ago I got to hang out with Noela--my best friend of (yikes!) eighteen years. I told her I was thinking about staying in San Diego for school, and she said she'd definitely come out to Cali to work if I were going to stick around. So our present nebulous plan is for the three of us--Shannon, Noela, and yours truly--to buy a run-down place and renovate it as we go. It should be interesting, to say the least. Maybe we should film the experiment and send it to TLC when we're done...
Tomorrow we're cruising down the Ichetucknee River in kayaking style. Dad bought Mom two new (and freaking sweet) kayaks for their (30th!) anniversary... And that means I get to take the old one for a test drive tomorrow, while the 'rents take their duo on their maiden voyage.
Tomorrow is also my baby brother's 23rd birthday (I know, he's not really a baby) and my granddad's 78th. So we're going to have dinner at Mom's parents' house, and Aunt Mary and Uncle Cliff are coming up from Tampa, so it should be a really good time. I wish Trav were still here... But I'm so glad he's doing well up in Pueblo.
Then it will be time for me to leave... Anybody wanna run away to Mexico with me?
